What is Reiki?
Reiki is a healing technique that channels energy by means of a light touch (or just above the body). This activates the natural healing processes of your body and restores physical and emotional well-being.
Reiki healing is used regularly alongside conventional medicine to relieve side effects of illness and to promote recovery. It is aimed to release stress and restore vitality on all levels. Reiki often acts very quickly and directly by easing the pain and safely and accelerating healing. It can be used safely regardless of whatever illness the receiver is suffering from, but you should always seek the advice of a specialist doctor in addition to any Reiki you receive.
Reiki energy heals whatever needs healing and specific outcome cannot be predicted or guaranteed.

Because Reiki is a natural treatment there are no contraindications, meaning it is generally safe to use for everyone. You are advised, however, to discuss your medical history with your Reiki practitioner in case they need to take extra precautions.
What happens when I come for a treatment ?
Prior to your first visit we will have a telephone discussion to determine your present and past health and lifestyle. This is so I can build a picture of you as a whole person rather than just focusing on any problem you may have.
At the beginning of your treatment, you will be asked to sit or lie down in a comfortable position. You do not need to remove your clothing. For comfort, you may wish to remove constricting layers, shoes and/or glasses. I will then gently place my hands on or slightly above the body non-intrusively in a predetermined sequence of positions, which cover the whole body. The touch should be gentle and light, Reiki does not involve any manipulation or massage.
You may feel heat, tingling or coolness as your body takes in the Reiki energy. You may feel these sensations more in certain areas where more energy is flowing or you may feel nothing very much at all apart from a deep sense of comfort and peace. Many people drift in and out of sleep, most say it is the most relaxed they have felt in a long time.
